My research focuses on intermittent streams in southeastern Oklahoma and the fish communities that inhabit them. Intermittent streams are characterized by periods of full or partial drying. Intermittent streams are still relatively understudied compared to permanent waterways, and comparatively little is known about their importance for aquatic organisms like fish and macroinvertebrates. With my research in Oklahoma, I seek to understand the drying patterns of intermittent streams and study how these patterns affect fish and crayfish communities. I am also interested in how other factors, including land use and water resource management, affect intermittent streams and their aquatic communities.
