Carstens awarded NSF Grant for Population Genetics Research
Bryan Carstens, associate professor, EEOB, received a three-year, $403,649 NSF grant to develop a software package to better estimate how multiple events may shape population genetics. Most differences among living organisms, including humans, can be traced to genetic variation. Understanding how beneficial mutations might be established in a certain-sized natural population with migration limits could provide important insights into human health, conservation genetics, agricultural breeding and other research areas. Congratulations!
