Many EEOB personnel contributed to the 2025 Data Science Summer Camp at OSU from July 7 - 11. The camp, for students in grades 7-9, is directed by Amber Pasternak and Dr. Asuman Turkmen and is sponsored by OSU’s Translational Data Analytics Institute [TDAI]. EEOB professor, Bryan Carstens, gave a tour of the Museum of Biological Diversity and talked to the students about museum collections and the data analysis opportunities generated by such data.  Chenyang Wei, EEOB Postdoctoral scholar, and Hikaru Keebler, EEOB graduate student, led students in a hands-on environmental data analysis project. EEOB professor and Interim chair, Laura Kubatko, used the augmented reality game Pokémon Go to illustrate probabilistic thinking in data collection. Tanya Berger-Wolf, EEOB professor and Director of TDAI, talked to the students about the emerging field of imageomics. The Data Science Summer Camp has been held at OSU since 2018.
