Updates from the Acarology Lab

Sam Bolton and Hans Klompen recently published a paper entitled, Morphological support for a clade comprising two vermiform mite lineages: Eriophyoidea (Acariformes) and Nematalycidae (Acariformes). See citation below.
Bolton, S.J., Chetverikov, P.E. & Klompen, H. (2017) Morphological support for a clade comprising two vermiform mite lineages: Eriophyoidea (Acariformes) and Nematalycidae (Acariformes). Systematic & Applied Acarology, 22 (8), 1096-1131. http://doi.org/10.11158/saa.22.8.2
This article was also featured heavily in an editorial in the same journal, and Sam wrote a commentary in Entomology Today. He effectively united a huge lineage of plant parasites with a tiny lineages of deep soil mites to create what probably should be a new order or suborder of mites.
