Education

  • B.S. Forest Ecosystem Science, Environment and Natural Resources, The Ohio State University. Summa cum laude.
Advisors: Steve Hovick and Mandy Slate

My work has investigated native planting success in restoration, plant-fungal interactions, native-invasive plant interactions, and vegetation responses to ecosystem change (see completed projects: https://orcid.org/0009-0003-6825-0540). This work has been primarily in Midwest deciduous forests, although in 2023 I completed a fellowship researching Scandinavian alpine tundra ecosystems through the Norwegian University of Science and Technology.  Continuing research that both advances ecological theory and has practical applications for restoration management worldwide is my long-term career goal.

My graduate research at OSU investigates harnessing plant-fungal interactions to enhance wetland restoration outcomes.

Undergraduate honors research thesis: Reduced growth and reproduction in native spring ephemerals from key drivers of forest change: invasive ephemeral competition and leaf litter absence. Advisor: Steve Hovick.
